Engineering support is available to all RMCR member stations through the RMCR Shared Engineering Initiative.
Whether you have a specific technical problem, a planned project, a preventive maintenance need, or something you would like the Regional Engineer to help evaluate, start by submitting a request.
REQUEST ENGINEERING HELP
Use the Project Request Form to tell us:
- What problem or project you need help with
- How urgent it is
- Any deadlines or seasonal access issues
- Any other information that will help us understand the need
You do not need to have the solution figured out before submitting a request. Part of the Regional Engineer’s role is helping stations determine what needs to happen next.
What Happens After You Submit a Request?
The Project Coordinator will review the request with the Regional Engineer and follow up with your station with follow-up questions and next steps.
Requests are prioritized based on factors including urgency, risk to broadcast service, safety, the engineer’s schedule, travel and geography, seasonal access, and existing commitments.
EMERGENCY ENGINEERING NEEDS
A true emergency generally means a station or major service is off the air, critical equipment has failed, broadcast service is at serious risk, or waiting could result in additional damage or affect emergency information.

Third Thursdays at Three (RMCR Peer Learning Sessions)
Overview
Join us every third Thursday at 3:00 p.m. Mountain Time for RMCR Open Office Hours. Each session will feature one or two invited experts who will lead a conversation on a specific topic relevant to RMCR member station engineers and operations staff.

Shared Equipment
RMCR is developing a shared inventory of broadcast tools, test equipment, and other resources that member stations can use when they are not needed by the Regional Engineer.

ABOUT THE SHARED ENGINEERING INITIATIVE
Rocky Mountain Community Radio’s Shared Engineering Initiative is a network-wide effort to strengthen engineering capacity across all 21 member stations.
Funded by Press Forward—a national initiative to reimagine local news—the initiative addresses challenges shared across the region, including limited engineering support, aging infrastructure, and increasing technical complexity.
The goal is to establish a shared engineering system that strengthens technical resilience, supports local news infrastructure, and expands access to skilled engineering resources across RMCR member stations, and to serve as a model for other public media collaboratives.
The initiative includes direct engineering support, preventive maintenance, improved documentation and remote monitoring, shared technical resources and standards, training, and long-term development of engineering capacity throughout the RMCR network.
